Cancer Council South
Australia is the state’s leading non-Government cancer control organisation.
We do not receive government
funding an rely on the generosity of the South Australian public to fund
research, education and support services to prevent cancer and to assist those
affected by cancer.
Current fundraising events
include; Relay for Life, Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea, Daffodil Day, Race
for Life, Pink Ribbon Day and Girls Night In.
Donations go directly towards
research, education and support services including each year:

providing more than 7500 country guests low cost
accommodation during their cancer treatment in Adelaide (at Flinders,
Greenhill and Seaview Lodges)

providing almost 6000 bus trips to transport country people
between city-based accommodation, and cancer treatment centres

providing more than $2 million in funding towards South
Australian-based cancer research projects

facilitating about 8000 calls on Cancer Council Helpline 13 11

providing one-on-one telephone support to more than 450 new cancer
patients

taking the SunSmart message to children in more than 400 early
childhood centres and schools
distributing 390,000 resources to cancer treatment centres,
schools, workplaces, healthcare centres and the wider community

delivering about 300 presentations to workplace, professional and
community groups

healthy after cancer workshops,
